Boy, 14, Fatally Shot in Taylor. Principal Described Him as 'Bright, Kind and Spirited.'

Trey Kimber, 14, who had just graduated from the 8th grade at Grandport Academy in Ecorse, was fatally shot Saturday night in Taylor.

WDIV reports that the teen was in an argument with three to four others in the area of Eureka Road and Pine Street around 9 p.m., when someone pulled out a gun and fired. No arrests have been made.

Grandport Academy Principal Shannon Jenkins, in a statement, described Kimber as “a bright, kind, and spirited young person who touched the lives of many. His passing is a profound loss to our school community, and we know that many students, staff, and family will be deeply affected.”

She added that his summer school teacher had recommended him for 9th grade honors English for the upcoming school year at Ecorse High School.

Taylor Police said on Facebook:

We understand the community has concerns, and we want to assure you that we are actively working to gather all the facts. An updated statement with additional information will be provided at a later time.
